EyeClops Science Presentation at School
I got an EyeClops, which is a microscope that magnifies 200 times and shows the images on TV, for Christmas.
My mom and dad visited my class today and gave a great science presentation. They put together a great show. My teacher liked it too because it was educational.
Here are the fun things that one can show using the EyeClops. As I discover more things, I will add them to this post of EyeClops exciting demonstration.
- Tear a paper and look at the edge of the tear.
- Show the dots on a printed paper. They used a Pokemon card and it was great to see the green dots.
- Show Sugar crystals, salt crystals and Splenda non-crystals
- Show a mustard seed
- show hair - straight hair and curly hair and see the edge of it.
- Show an edge of a blade
- Show how Velcro works - one can see the hooks on one side and the loops on the other side. Pretty neat.
- Show a nail and finger prints
- Show a line drawn by a marker and a pencil and compare thickness
- Show dollar bill and five dollar bill
- Show a feather
- Show a coin
The coolest one was when my dad showed the edge of a real Pokemon card and an edge of the fake pokemon card and one could tell that the real one had three layers and the fake one had one or two layers.
Here are my jeans, magnified 200 times. You can see the fibers.

Pretty neat.
Me and my Twinn
When I was 3 years old, my parents got a Twinn doll for me. They sent a picture, description and details of hair color, eye color etc to Twinn, and the Twinn doll maker made a custom doll that looks just like me - well, almost like me.
And then last year, he got clothes that were an exact match for me and the doll, pretty cute.
Here is me holding my little Twinn from five years ago. You can still see some resemblance, don’t you think?
Me, getting a haircut or being tickled?
Sarah is such a good hair dresser!

I am smiling because (a) I am happy to get a hair cut or (b) Sarah is tickling me.
The answer is (b).
Some people are ticklish when you tickle their tummy, or their back but I am ticklish all over - I am so ticklish that even if somebody touches my hair, I burst out laughing.
Pokemon Championship tournament excitement
I didn’t have time to write about the exciting Pokemon tournament I participated a couple of weeks ago.
The City tournament was on Saturday and we found out about it on Thursday! We weren’t sure if we would be able to go or not but on Friday, on a whim, we decided to go to it any way.
I had no deck to play with. We gathered up my cards and put together a Fighting deck. It was a really poor deck. Rampardos was the best card I had and the evolution chain was kind of weak. I had no trainers and no supporters. I called my deck ‘little ninja’ - ninja because it was a fighting deck, and little because, the deck still has a little growing up to do.
We were joking that going to the city tournament with my deck was like going to a sword fight with a banana! :-)
Here is a picture of me at the tournament in my ninja like dragon jacket.

I got there at about 9.30 or so and there were a few people waiting; all them with a huge binders of Pokemon cards in tow. The collections that these people had were impressive for sure. I played a warm-up game with a guy there and lost pretty easily. :-(
The tournament started at about 11.00 and I played my first game. My opponent had really really good cards and very strong deck but he didn’t understand the cards and the rules very well. The game continued for a while and we were both at 2-2. Since the time was up, the judge said that who so ever gets the next knock out, wins. I noticed that one of his benched pokemon had a lot of damage and I used one of my cards that did damage to the benched pokemon and got a knock out and won the game! I didn’t expect to, but it was great to win a game.
In the next game, my opponent was a guy named James L. I asked him what kind of deck he had and he wouldn’t even tell me. Turned out that he had a Blissy deck. He won the game very quickly. His cards were doing 80+ damage to me and I had no Pokemon that was very strong. remember, I only had one Rampardos with 120 HP.
Later I found out that James L. is the best Pokemon player in the state of California! I don’t feel too bad, I was beaten by the expert. And Blissy deck is considered one of the strongest deck.
I played two more games and they were nice. I lost them both but I did do some damage. Considering how weak my deck was, I felt pretty good.
I also met Kim Cray from Pokegym.net and he gave me a special Pokemon dice! cool. He also suggested that I might consider playing with proxy deck or dummy deck and that was a great nugget of information.
At the end, we all got a special promo card and a poster and a tournament pin!
All in all, a very intense experience!
Vocabulary game - Conundrum, exquisite and rickety
My dad, my mom and I started playing the vocabulary game. We have a word every day and every time we use that word, we get points.
Yesterday’s word : Conundrum (means riddle: a difficult problem).
Today’s word Exquisite (means elegant, refined, intense)
tomorrow’s word rickety (means something that shakes from weakness or defect).
I used Conundrum four times yesterday.
If you use two special words in a sentence, you get extra points.
Not sure what the points are worth, but may be I can trade them for pokemon cards - just may be!
sledding on angeles crest highway
It was cold last week, so we decided to go sledding on the Angeles Crest Highway, which is not too far from us.
We hadn’t tried it before, so we got some info from our friend Scott and and he even loaned us some of his equipment! Look at the sled in this picture, it even has breaks -perfect.
We drove for half an hour and got to the Angles Crest highway, stopped at the ranger station, got parking permit and some info.
Drove another 15 minutes or so and found this camping area where there was some snow on the ground, cleaned out a path on a little slope and woo hoo, we were ready for some sledding. It was a lot of fun. A little more snow on the ground would have been great, but it was fun for sure.
100 new friends a day - friends and visitors to my website!
Other day, I got an email from my web-hosting company saying that “your bandwidth is about to exceed quota”. What does that mean? Apparently it means that I have a lot of people visiting my site!
But how can that be? I just write this for myself and for my friends and relatives. How can I have so many visitors to my website?
My dad helped me check and apparently I am getting 100+ visitors to my website EVERY DAY. And they come from all over the place, from UK, from Brazil, from NewYork, from Australia. That’s so nice, I didn’t know I was that popular!
Here is a world map of where the visitors are coming from:

Looks like I have friends everywhere in the world - (OK, none in China and none in Africa, but everywhere else!).
This is the country list:

And these are the languages they speak:

What are they looking for? Pokemon is the most popular search word but they look for webkinz, Mt. Baldy, rattle snake, chess!
Hi friends and visitors, glad you are here and thanks for coming.
Beard Papa’s Cream Puff -
We went for dim-sum at this HUGE restaurant. It was probably the biggest restaurant I have seen. It has seating for about 900 people. We had some dim sum there. It was really nice. It is called Ocean Star Seafood restaurant.
But on the way out, we saw this sign which said “Beard Papa’s Cream puff”. That’s a funny name! We decided to check it out and it was a Japanese place that had some nice desserts.
I ordered a vanilla eclair - chocolate outside and they filled it with Vanilla filling. It was good, a little too sweet for me and it was kind of hard to handle, it was drooping all over. But it was nice. I would give it 6 out of 10.
