My birthday gifts : happy 9th Birthday!

I got a lot of great birthday gifts.

Image

(i) A nice cozy winter blue sweater - from my aunt.

(ii) A game of life - from my cousin. This game is very interesting because it has so many different roads to take before you retire. It is good to go to college before you start a career, but before you start the game, it takes a long time to assemble. It took a life time to assemble the game of life!

(iii) I got the RC helicopter from my aunt from Delhi. This one took a long time to train, it would keep spinning until I trimmed it. I had a great time playing with the helicopter. It was nice to see it hovering around the house, when I told it to.

(iv) I got a drawing tablet from my dad. I am learning to draw on my computer using the tablet. It also works like a mouse.

Image

(v) Then I got a gift certificate written in a monkey language (I was my dad’s handwriting), but it was from my mom; and it is for a Bike.

We went looking for one last weekend, but I think I need 22 inch bike and it was hard to find.

I hope I have fun riding this bike.

And then we went to Paris restaurant in Las Vegas for my birthday dinner.

The food at the Paris restaurant was really really good, I liked the chicken, fruits, bread and last but not least desserts, including the mouth watering apple pie.

Great happy birthday was had by all!

Finished Harry Potter - Goblet of Fire : Now to the movie and the DS game

I finished the Harry Potter’s 4th book; the Goblet of Fire and really really liked it. It was a kind of thick book, even thicker than my pillow but it didn’t take me that long to finish it.

Image

I have the movie, but I decided to wait to finish the book before I saw the movie. So over the next day or two, I will watch the movie.

My dad gave me the DS game “Goblet of Fire” and I just turned it on - the graphics are very nice, I’l tell you if I like the game or not.

Over the summer, I will finish the three (or four) other Harry Potter books and start on the Lord of the Ring books.

Most people think that Harry Potter only has seven books in the series, but there are really eight books; seven in the main series and the eighth one is the Rowling hand wrote for friends and family.

It is supposed to be the book that has stories before the Book 1 of the Harry Potter series began.

This book sold for $3.7 Million dollars. My dad might have to increase my allowance for me to buy this book or I might have to wait for a million years…

Birthday celebration in Las Vegas

general - Birthday celebration in Las Vegas

My birthday is coming up next week and horrrrayy.. we are going to Las Vegas to celebrate.

I might get to go on the NY-NY roller coaster in Las Vegas that goes past the statue of liberty (the fake Las Vegas one) and the empire state building.

general - Birthday celebration in Las Vegas

I like going to Las Vegas and we generally stay at Fairfield resort and they have two or three nice big pools and the rooms are large.

I thought about going bungee cord jumping; but I don’t think I will go. I am not scared of it, but I don’t feel so good when I go straight down very fast. But the roller coaster looks like fun from this picture.

I might go to stratosphere ride but I am not sure yet.

I will be nine on 10th of July.

Is this an Indian Hanuman Pokemon? Monferno vs. Hanuman

general - Is this an Indian Hanuman Pokemon? Monferno vs. Hanuman

In Indian mythology, there is the Monkey God. And there is a story where he goes to Lanka (modern day Sri Lanka) and the king of Lanka tries to burn his tail. Except that Hanuman gets away with fire on his tail and jumps from one building of Lanka to other and by the time he is done, the whole city is on fire.

This pokemon reminds me of the Indian monkey god Hanuman.

Here is a picture of Hanuman.

I also heard that Obama carries a tiny figure of Hanuman in his pocket.

I’d vote for him just for that. Any friend of Hanuman is a friend of mine!

Xena is a Plutoid

I was sad when Pluto was demoted to a “dwarf planet”. In fact, my dad I and I got matching t-shirts saying that “Pluto got the Booto.”

At that time, another object bigger than Pluto was found; it was called Xena. A year later, they re-named it as Eris. general - Xena is a Plutoid

Yesterday I heard that the objects that the bright and are beyond Neptune will be called Plutoids.

general - Xena is a Plutoid

Here are two (or three) Plutoids. Pluto, Charon and Eris. We probably have 1000’s of Plutoids floating around beyond Neptune.

At least this way, Pluto will be remembered.

Who puts forks on the road?

Heard this nice joke other day.

general - Who puts forks on the road?

There is a company called Cutler Construction company. And this guy misread the sign as “Cutlery Construction Company”; so he said to himself:

“Oh… these are the people that put forks on the road!!”

Also reminds me of Yogi Bera’s most famous saying:

When you come to a fork on the road - take it!

Spring Break and Getty museum

Spring break is here and it’s almost finished! :-(

A couple of days ago, my mom and dad took me and a couple of my friends to the Getty Museum.

It was a really fun visit; we saw some really really old manuscripts - from 1470’s; we saw some really really old statue of Venus and even older crown with gold leaves.

Getty is such a great place to visit; wonderful museum, nice garden, and absolutely breathtaking views.

Other things that I did over the spring break - watched Nancy Drew movie, played Nancy Drew game on my DS, played Hanah Montana game on the Will with my friend and did Star academic testing for Texas 4th grade ( I am in third grade but Texas 3rd grade was a little too simple). And fun spring break was had by all!

Saraswati Puja and eating Momelattes

saraswati Pooja

Went to the Saraswati Puja yesterday; Saraswati is the goddess of Knowledge in Hindu religion, so it was appropriate to pray to her, because I do want a lot of knowledge.

Here is another statute of Saraswati; she is holding a musical instrument in two hands, a book in another hand and learning sacred text using the beads in the fourth hand.

general - Saraswati Puja and eating Momelattes

Another funny thing was that they were serving Momelettes at lunch at the function. What is Momlette, you ask? Well, it is not so special Bangla Omlette. Apparently on the street corners in Calcutta, now called Kolkata, the vendors would say “double dim momlette”, which literally means two egg omelet!

I thought it was omelet made lovingly by the moms, but apparently not!

And hey, did you notice my dangling earrings (my first ones) and the nice bindi that I am wearing.

Me and my Twinn

When I was 3 years old, my parents got a Twinn doll for me. They sent a picture, description and details of hair color, eye color etc to Twinn, and the Twinn doll maker made a custom doll that looks just like me - well, almost like me.

Twinn_doll

And then last year, he got clothes that were an exact match for me and the doll, pretty cute.

Here is me holding my little Twinn from five years ago. You can still see some resemblance, don’t you think?

Me, getting a haircut or being tickled?

Sarah is such a good hair dresser!

general - Me, getting a haircut or being tickled?

I am smiling because (a) I am happy to get a hair cut or (b) Sarah is tickling me.

The answer is (b).

Some people are ticklish when you tickle their tummy, or their back but I am ticklish all over - I am so ticklish that even if somebody touches my hair, I burst out laughing.
